“I will put MY breath in you so that you come to life. Then you will know that I am Yahweh!”
— Ezekiel 37:6
While sitting in the backyard with my husband watching our bonfire burn out, he poked at the logs and the embers at the bottom lit up bright red and orange, releasing an intense heat. We both noticed the heat radiating from the embers and I commented on how amazing it was that the small pieces, once part of the bigger logs, were hotter than the logs themselves.
I sat mesmerized by the flickering embers, amazed at the goodness of God's creation. It made me chuckle as I watched a little ember flicker its flame on and off again as if on command. In that moment, God impressed His Spirit upon me.
I felt like He said to me, "I am the fire, and you [my children] are like the log and embers. When you stay close to Me, you feel My warmth and power, and My fire inside you shines bright and hot. When you wander or become complacent, your fire begins to diminish, and you tend to become distracted and busy with life. You may think you have gone too far from me to return, but it is never too late for me to use you! Those little broken pieces that were once part of the log engulfed in fire can become embers that now burn hotter than the bigger flames." You are not useless when your fire dims or seems to have gone out. Your value has not changed.
Don't give up. Press on.
Because of pain, grief, disobedience, or complacency, the fire that once burned bright inside of you may have dwindled into a small flame, but GOD can breathe new life into you and make your fire burn bright again. At the end of Ezekiel 37:6, God says, "I will put MY breath in you [make you alive] so that you come to life. Then you will know that I am Yahweh!" Trust the Lord will do what He says He will do.
Will you let Him breathe His life into you?
Dear Friend, ask God to breathe new life into you right now. Maybe you need new life breathed into a relationship, into past hurts, or into your walk with Him. Whatever it is for you, I challenge you to ask God to do it and He will. It may not look like what you want it to, but it will accomplish your good and His glory.
